Matthew Phillips is a student at the University of Connecticut pursuing a double major in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and Psychological Sciences (Research Track). Matt is interested in pursuing a clinical Master’s degree as well as a Ph.D. in speech and language sciences so he can conduct research on some of the many unanswered questions within the field. Starting this fall, Matt works as an undergraduate research assistant in the Language and Brain Lab under the direction of Dr. Emily Myers. Matt is also passionate about advocacy and is involved with the National Stuttering Association where he currently serves as Teen Program Coordinator. In this role he plans teen outreach, engagement, and advocacy projects nationwide. Matt is also interested in d/Deaf culture and is excited to work at UConn Interpreting Services and hopes to make UConn more accessible to students of all abilities. For fun, Matt performs with the UConn Marching & Pep Bands as well as the University Symphonic Band.
