Getting Started

For Visitors and Guests Requesting Interpreters and/or CART Live Captioning

 

Notify the event organizer and/or contact OIE.

Guests or visitors in need of accommodations are encouraged to notify the hosting department or event organizer prior to arrival.  You may also contact the Deputy ADA Coordinator, Joshua Rucker, at 860-486-2943 or equity@uconn.edu.  The Deputy ADA Coordinator and the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) collaborate with University departments to ensure equal access for guests and visitors with disabilities to University programs, activities and services.

Request UCIS Services directly

Request Sign Language Interpreters and/or CART live captioning directly from UCIS using our online form.  Please make sure to fill out the form completely and accurately so that we can coordinate services with all responsible parties.

UCIS will make every effort to accommodate requests at any time, for any UConn-sponsored event, activity, or program.  However, we recommend the following timeline to facilitate coordination of services:

  • For large-scale, recurring, or public events, submit requests 3 weeks in advance.
  • All other requests should be submitted at least 3 business days in advance.

Requests received outside the recommended timelines may be difficult to accommodate with preferred services and/or providers. In such cases, UCIS will work with you to devise appropriate alternative arrangements, as needed. If you need to change or cancel any requests, please notify UCIS as soon as possible at ucis@uconn.edu.
